How to decorate small rooms? Interior Design

Interior arrangement – is a domain in which the creativity of those who carry out this type of activity matters greatly but also the way of execution of works aimed at bringing changes to the house in order to obtain a living space more useful in terms of area to satisfy also the need to relax of the owner.

In this manner, interior arrangements that can be made starting with the living-room, the living room where the family members spend a sufficiently large part of the time with daily activities or receiving visits from neighbours and friends, in bedrooms or in kitchens and bathrooms.

If in general in the living rooms and bedrooms the interior arrangements are designed with the propose of realizing more of a pleasant decor, the kitchen aims to realize a space that provides an environment more sterile because here the food is cooked and the aliments are stored or prepared. Usually, in case of an interior arrangement, in kitchens, on the floor are assembled sandstone tiles and the faience on the walls.

Just as with kitchens, in the bathroom, the space which otherwise is very important for daily hygiene of the family members, the interior design can be made consisting of applying the same assembling of sandstone tiles but insulation of walls with drywall can be done because they will provide protection against moisture.

In bedrooms and living rooms where the interior designs are made, the choice will be for plasterboard or for building plaster soffits which will replace the furniture and after that the parquet is assembled which can make the maintaining of the cleanliness in the room much easier.

We live fortunately (or unfortunately, I do not know exactly) in a world of rules, so there are rules for decorating small rooms. In principle these rules for decorating small rooms aim to illuminate the room, to give, visually, the illusion of space.

The practice proves that these rules for decorating small rooms should be applied depending on the general details of the room and that these rules are not generally available.

Here are some rules for decorating small rooms, in fact simple ideas that can help you to decorate rooms with a small surface.

♦ Paint with white or pale colours. A very good solution is represented by the paints that contain oil which make the walls shiny.

♦ Paint the walls and the ceiling in the same colour and use for floors materials which contrast with the walls. Ideally is as the floors to be in a darker shade with 3-4 tones. It is important that the floors to be mate.

♦ Paint the doors and the window frames in dark colours. If the paint is glossy, it is perfect.

♦ Use for decorating the room more than two shades (for the carpet, sofa and curtains) and take into consideration the solution of solid colours,  tone-on-tone, with small prints.

♦ Add a few splashes of colour in intense shades, vibrant, electrical, to give life to the space, which is most often a monotonous, monochromatic tone.

♦ The accents can be made from shock prints if the materials of the major things are in a single colour.

♦ On the list of rules for decorating small rooms it is not mentioned a specific style, but the rules of the personal and minimalist style, adapted to the needs is the best choice. The furniture must be strictly limited to what is necessary in the room and nothing more.

♦ Do not use wallpaper in a small room, or if you do, give up the carpets. The wallpaper is still the last solution in a small room.

♦ One problem for decorating small spaces are the pieces of furniture. The solution is not represented by small pieces, uncomfortable and unpleasant, and fewer pieces. Instead of a sofa with three seats, choose one with two seats, instead of large armchairs, choose chair-armchair and instead of furniture against the wall, like sideboards, buffets, libraries, choose shelves and long,  narrow bodies even if they are shelves or cupboards with shelves or drawers.

♦ One of the best rules for decorating small rooms says that it should not overlooked the corners of the room, which should be “stuffed”. Usually, the corner is a non-functional area, but in a small room it must be used.

♦ One of the laws of decorating a small room requires the usage of mirrors. But there are also here some rules for decorating small rooms. Use combinations of smaller mirrors, not necessarily a large mirror and that is all. A large mirror will reflect all that is in the room, including the furniture which instead of opening and refreshing the air will make it look more crowded. With several small mirrors this unpleasant effect is avoided.

♦ In the chapter of rules for decorating smaller rooms we have: large windows, lots of light. The windows must be left free and if you need curtains or drapes, then you should choose simple patterns of white and matte materials.
