What is the plasterboard and how to use it?

The plasterboard is one of the modern materials, which can do wonders in the house. The plasterboard offers tremendous opportunities being one of the construction materials that is mandatory in the interior furnishing.

It is very simple to use, cheap and it can be used in design even if you are not a construction specialist.

The plasterboard was invented in United States, but from the moment when it was actually created to the moment when it began to be used up to its true potential, several years passed.

The plasterboard is also named dry plaster, being a very fast and efficient method of finishing the walls and for realizing of structures on and into the walls.

The plasterboard is made from a layer of gypsum fixed between two tiles of cardboard. It can be treated with different substances which make it waterproof, they increase its durability, keeping the essential quality of it, which is a semi-finished construction material, easy to cut and process and with a very low weight.

The width of the tile varies as the degree of resistance varies depending on where it is supposed to be used – outdoors or indoors. Some tiles of plasterboard are common, while others are treated to be fireproof and waterproof, depending on the destination that they have. There exist tiles of waterproof, fireproof, flexible plasterboard and also there exist special tiles of plasterboard for outdoors and tiles which provide noise insulation.

The plasterboard tiles have a long endurance to high temperatures and humidity and the tiles provided with glass reinforcement are very durable to fire. All the plasterboard tiles prevent condensation and balance the humidity level in the room.

The plasterboard can be used instead of the plaster which is fixed directly on the base structure of the building with special adhesives.

The tiles are a solution for some interior designs being the material that can help you to level the walls, to form some structure details into the walls from the shelves to the niches, arches, false beams, window sill to the soffits and alveoli.

The plasterboard is cheap, very easy to process and it provides high quality finishes. The plasterboard can be reinforced with a material which increases its durability, it can be painted and decorated.

The plasterboard is a building material that can be put into the category of the recyclable and it is considered an environmentally friendly product. Another advantage is the very low weight which makes it perfect for decorations on ceilings and walls.

To the chapter of disadvantages, it had the low resistance had to be mentioned. If you make shelves of plasterboard, these ones should have a small width so that their resistance allows using them for gaining space.

The walls which are made from double layers of plasterboard do not support the hanging weights unless long dowel pins are used, which should penetrate the wall from behind the tile or assembling of some metal fixing systems should be used.  If you will separate a room with walls from plasterboard they will not provide any noise or thermal insulation.

The plasterboard, in spite of its disadvantages, is a material which can represent the perfect solution, comfortable and, most of all, cheap for transformations and designs in the house. The plasterboard tiles are ideal for realizing covers for unaesthetic areas hiding what is not meant to be in sight and standardizing the space.
