What we use to cover the house?
For answering to this question we will have to analyse very good the materials which we will use for covering of the house, and also to take into consideration the product quality, lifetime, cost, appearance, labour costs and not least the climate zone in which we live.
From what we can achieve the covering material?
To achieve the roof covering we have a very wide range of products from which we can choose from:
– Ceramic tile – Metal tile;
– Concrete- tile – panels of fibre cement (eternite);
– Roof slate tiles;
– Bituminous panels;
– Plastic panels;
– Galvanized steel or aluminium;
– Pleated zincked steel;
– Bituminous shingles;
– Traditional roofing: wood shingles, straws, reeds.
The choice we make based on how we want the roof to look like, the available budget and not least its durability.
In this article we will make a brief presentation and comparison betweenthe ceramic tile and the metal tile.
Ceramic tiles or metal tiles?
Ceramic tile

– Thermistor;
– Fireproof;
– Shockproof and resistant to frost;
– High-term guarantee;
– soundproofed;
– Good ventilation of roof.
Disadvantages:
– High price acquisition;
– Expensive accessories;
– Expensive labour;
– High weight of the cover whichimplies a stronger truss roof structure and of course more expensive (dimensioning the roof structure is done depending on the weight that should support);
– During time they crack or break.
Metal tile
Benefits:
– Strength-flexibility;
– Visually pleasing;
– Variety of colours and designs;
– Easy to install – low price of labour;
– Reduced execution time;
– Cheaper attic structure;
– Lightweight;
– Does not crack, does not break;
– Easy cutting;
– Easily achieving the roofs with difficult shapes;
– Treated against corrosion.
Disadvantages:
– No thermal resistance;
– They do not have sound insulation properties – lower guarantee than ceramic tile;
– In case of problems it should be changed the whole panel;
– Depending on the quality of the tiles it may appear the discoloured metal.
By studying the pros and cons of the two types of tiles presented to you, you will make the right decision for your roof. Whatever you choose you should know that for a correct operation of the cover, the labour has an extremely high percentage. A good material installed in the wrong way to the work will not function properly and you will have problems.
So I recommend you to see several works before, of the craftsmen whom will install your roof covering, or the best for you is that the installation is done by the ones whom will ensure you the guarantee for both, materials and execution.
Also it is recommended that they install the foil and the slats for having no one to blame later in the case of appearing some problems of infiltration in the loft or in the attic.
