The solution is to place the furniture in a more dynamic way. For example, as I mentioned above, in a living room arrangement you can opt for placing a sofa perpendicular to the long walls, I mean in the center of the room or to a third of its length.

You can even put two smaller couches face to face, arranged, of course, in the same way, and between them will remain space for a coffee table. I said it and I will repeat: the empty space in the center of a room will be never used for anything but for passage so you can quit without any problems from it, you will not miss it.

Besides the colours, finishes and furnishings that can help you to decorate more beautiful and practical a long and narrow room, you can use various decorative elements. For example, a carpet placed across the room, in front of the couch in the living room, can induce the sensation of stretching the room and a oversized painting placed horizontally can have the same effect.
