How important is the design of your child’s room?

The arrangement of children rooms is always a challenge, an attempt to override the child that lies within each of us, to design a space that is ergonomic, practical, with long-range over the years in which it will have to host some people always changing, both intellectual and physical. To not be only a playground but a study space, a personal space, but also a style statement for young minds that just are forming.

Children grow quickly, so along with them the furniture of the room needs to grow also. In other words, the furniture design must be able to be adapted to the interests, hobbies and games of children, who are in a constant change.

Arrangement of a Pre-school child’s room

For arranging a room of a child who still does not go to school, it is needed a comfortable bed, a playground, a table where to draw or paint, a space for storybook and a functional area, with closets or drawers for clothes. If the room has a generous size, you can think of a clever idea, to be of maximum interest for your pre-school. For example, you can hang an armchair from the ceiling.

Ideally, the furniture should have rounded or padded corners with soft materials. The floor is also very important. Each material has its advantages and disadvantages. The carpet insulates sounds, but retains dust and can cause allergies. In addition, the spots caused by various liquids, sweet and colourful are very difficult to clean. The wood is a warm material, easy to maintain, so the hard wood floor is a solution worth taking into account.

However, do not lose sight of the costs of such operations. Laminate flooring is cheaper and as easy to maintain, but it is much better to choose a massive one because it has a high quality.

Keep the toys in a box or a plastic or wood crate, but do not fill it to the brim never to be easily moved even by a child. From time to time, change the toys kept in the crate.

I recommend you not to put the curtains so low, because they can arouse the child’s curiosity and the little one could always pull them. And they can be painted or printed.

You should still try to keep one dominant colour, maximum two. In any case, do not fill space with too many nuances. It is important as the arrangement of child room to be pleasant to inspire your child safety and beauty.

Arrangement of children room: schoolchildren and adolescents

In decorating a room for schoolchildren will appear necessarily a new space for homework, keeping the backpack, books, notebooks, school supplies. It is also important to think about the proper lighting of the room, furniture height, its colour etc. All the details matter!

In this case, the study area is essential. The worktable must be spacious enough to fit all supplies. In time, the student will have to make some projects which require a larger work surface (at least one A0 sheet).

In no case, it is not indicated to choose a round table. This is not good for either lessons or games. The elbows are places in the air and the chest lying flat on edge of the table, which has a negative impact on the child’s posture. My advice is to opt for a table or a desk with a regular shape, rectangular. The seat should be adjusted on height and have an ergonomic backrest.

Regarding to natural or artificial light, it should fall on the table from the left or from the front.

The walls represent an important element in decorating the baby room. If you paint them, try using warm colours and, in any case, pale ones. Being a child’s room, you can use pink, green, blue, orange or a colour combination. And if you use wallpaper, orient to one colourful.

You can also use the motif. It is very important to choose the theme with the room owner. If the same room is divided by two brothers, you should take into account that there are still two different people. In this case, you can think about arranging children’s room as a combination of two different styles (boy and girl) or create a framework consistent with the style of decorating the entire house and leave them to decide how they want to decorate. Guided and monitored closely, of course.
