All you need to know about the electrical installation

Is the electrical installation old and no longer with the new electric appliances? When and if it is necessary to change it, who you need to ask to make a new project, how long it takes or how much it would cost to build a new installation … All these are matters that interest any person in such a situation.

If you own an apartment or a house where it is necessary to update consumers or change the location of the appliances, the electrical installation needs to be changed. For example, if you have purchased an air conditioner, a washing machine and a hydro massage tub (which requires a separate special circuit just to increase the operational safety), the old installation is no longer indicated.

In case you want to change the electrical installation, the old one must be deactivated, and the new installation will take its place, not necessarily requiring the old trains. The old installation circuits do not need to be dislodged from the walls because it would involve unreasonable costs and there is no risk of staying where they were installed.

The electrical installation project

Without a project, there are the following risks: the undersize installations for consumers to be connected, resulting in fires or serious accidents, or oversize that will lead to unnecessary investments. In a project, it is recommended to specify all the existing consumers and possibly to consider and reserve if the beneficiary wants to purchase other appliances in the future.

In the case of changing the electrical installation, there is no need for an old sketch because the new project does not involve connecting to the old project on any of the old routes. If only a modification of the existing project is desired, the old project is required, as well as a consultation of the norms in force because the old project may no longer correspond technically with the new regulations.

An electrical installation project is done only by authorized persons, by an authorized electrician or by a designer with the beneficiary, and where appropriate or where the financial possibility allows, a designer is also called. The project must take into account the appliances to be connected to the electrical installation of the building, but also the possible connection of new appliances.

The materials must correspond technically to the requirements of the designer (the designer also has the role to determine which materials are going to be put into operation or can specify the category or class to which the material to be used is) and the designer must follow the design and brings into the operation those specified materials, accompanied by quality and compliance certificates. The newest materials entering the market are, as a rule, the best, as they have been tested and approved according to the latest quality standards.

The steps of electrical installation

In order to achieve an installation, a series of steps must be taken, as follows: the electrical installation project, the purchase of the materials, the execution of the routes according to the project, the connection of the outlets, the switches and the consumers, the cold test, the hot test with all connected consumers, repairing faults and set working the installation.

On the market there are two classic methods of construction of electrical installations: those buried under the plaster or those applied on the plaster in the wand system. Both have the same principle of operation and use, but the wand types are easier to install and allow modifications of the cable trains, eventually extension of the electrical installation after complete completion of the works. The wand system is even easier to maintain. The only problem is aesthetic: the cable lines are visible on the outside of the walls.

On the English market smart gadgets have already appeared with programmable devices that can easily take the “switch” or “intensity speed variating device” function. These electrical installations are easier to install because they have devices that replace certain functions, which, if they are done in a classic system, would be achieved with a larger input of conductor, electric lines and physical effort.
